  • Looks great to me. Is it from a mint set? OK, let my take a wild guess and throw out a grade.

I seriously doubt this came from a mint set, hard for me to believe that the reverse woudln't tone sitting in the cardboard holders....

but regardless of its origin, it seems a minimum of a ms66fb...

your images don't portray strong luster, strong luster is a must for a Roosie to get a Ultra GEM Seven holder grade...
If that luster is there, this one may just get into a seven holder....

I like this one, very nice find, I like all of your finds......

Thanks for the opinions. The luster is subdued on this piece so I can't see this one goin 67. I also questioned the one sided toning HepKitty, but the dealer swears this one came out of a board. Thanks again.

    I agree with Lucy.
It looks 66fb all the way to me. If it has booming luster, it could go 67fb.
    Great looking Roosie! Nice find!!!

I didn't think it was "FB", that being reserved for the Mercury dimes. I thought it was "FT" (full torch). Am I wrong here?

I see an MS66 coin with FB or FT, whichever is correct. Very nice, clean reverse, the obverse toning could be hiding stuff, but I doubt it given the condition of the reverse.

PCGS has gotten very picky on FB designation. This coin looks good but there appears as if there might be some weakness on the lower bands on the left side - might require a closer examination. Otherwise, the reverse looks MS67 quality.

Green is an unusual color on Roosevelts and I've only seen two other coins with this much or more green color - one was a 64P in a PCGS MS64 holder than was very solidly toned and more of deeper Forest Green (wish I still had a pic). The obverse toning is a bit mottled and as noted previously, the luster seems subdued so its doubtful it would get the MS67 nod. What what I can tell, the obverse has the characteristic weakness about the margins as do a majority of the early S mints coins however, the 47S is perhaps the best strck S mint coin in the 46S-49S series (the 49S is perhaps the worst). This weakness is most visible about the In God We Trust motto and the date. This could also play into a non-MS67 grade.

Appears to be a touch of rub on the high point of the cheek, just beneath the eye but it could be a toning break - it appears slight. Ear and hair detail looks good and I can't see any bad marks thought the top edge of the ear isn't toned - slight rub or??? Give these are normal, I would say the coin receives a MS66 grade with a good possibility of Full Bands. PC is jst so tough on "look" as the Hepkitty mentioned.
