    Stone,

What is it with you and 92 UD baseball? Are you just being sarcastic about it?? Actually even though it was mass produced, I think it had one of the best designs on a card, clean and simple. Some of the photographs are the best I have seen. Look at me rambling on about 92 UD, doh.

Hard to say, but are the top two corners look fuzzy? Not trying to be a buzzkill.

Nice pull on the Molly, centering top to bottom and the print dot in the center might keep it from grading high but it IS a nice card! Especially if you are collecting raw. Also, the scans of the box showed evidence of nasty corners on alot of the cards on the left hand side of the box. This is why I STAY AWAY from vending. Anyway, don't let me get you down! I hope you get some nice PSA 10 commons! image

No, they actually are perfect. I think the edges are a little rough so thats why they look fuzzy on the scan. The bottom left corner has a slight ding. Besides for the fisheye in the middle, there are a few pd's on Trammell. I am sending it in tomorrow so we will see.

    I also got a

    Morris oc 20/80 l/r 15/85 t/b

    Murphy Parrish oc 65/35 70/30

    Whitaker oc 60/40 80/20

    Munson oc 80/20 l/r

    Dawson oc 80/20 l/r

    Rose 70/30 l/r

Carew 50/50 65/35 REAL rough edges

    Ryan rb 50/50 90/10

    Ryan 65/35 80/20

    Reggie may grade

    Ray Knight blazer Woooo hooo.

I have to sift the commons as I saw some nice ones.

    Will post scans later....

From my findings this is very typical with vending, but you get what you pay for. It is more affordable than wax/rack but IMO easier to search and the cards are usually in worse shape.

Of course I'm joking. My son was at the height of collecting in 1992 and at 10 bucks a box, it was ez pickens to keep him happy opening packs. But we must have opened 15-20 boxes!!! Same with 91UD.
The cards have great photos, clean design and lots of stars.

And yes, they let the presses roll way over on these issues - in fact, I think they're still running in a parallel universe!

    Zef
Nice Mollie!! I pulled one with very similar attributes - for one thing you don't have the typical ink smear.

The Molitor is a nice card - without the smear is a big plus, and the centering T/B isn't that bad. Looks like an 8, hopefully. Good luck with the rest of the submission.

    Yes Sting
I pulled it from a vending box I got from the BBCKid back around 94? I do remember that I paid 150$ for the box - he was asking 180$ but I told him Barnett's had it in SCD for 150$ - would he match it - which was his policy back then as an SCD subscriber.

The vending was bad - though I'm thinking Softparade got a few 9s and a 10 out of the box and I only went thru the first 70 cards for him. I actually pulled some nice Rose cards out as well. NO RYAN's!!!

You are right, PSA overlooks rough cuts consistently. It all depends if you would want cards looking like that in your set or not. If you are thinking of selling them forget it!

OK. All said and done, 34 are going to PSA. 11 are on the border and what I originally said was 50 were well centered, it was actually 93! That is what I originally pulled as the centered cards. I guess almost 20% being well centered isn't that bad. I will let you all know as the grades come back, and SOFT please do the same...

I did not include the rough cuts

I agree soft, it could have been much worse! I got a 78 fb vendor that had easily 90% oc and a lot of true diamond cuts, with the actual card being cut sideways. I think it was searched and they actually put in a dorsett that was in good condition, but the surface nearly purple??? I ended up sending it in and it got a 9 image ty waxme!(if anyone remembers that horrible woman) She tried to F me but I got my $$ back.

And I like to show off my grades too and I like seeing a good submission from someone else almost as much as one of mine. Its just fun scrolling down and being like "OOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!" in a good or bad way but its fun to see grades! I am also submitting 77 & 82 OPCs that I am intrigued to find the grades out.

I recently busted a 1986 vending case that I was planning on submitting the to 50 or so tomorrow but that will have to wait since this vending box came today. Today was a good day! Got something good in the mail, my old man took me for ribs and drinks, and now I got to go through my mail! Gota get cracking on the submission. And take some immodium for my diarreah of the mouth.

Wow, I feel 7 years old again looking at those pics of your vending break. Glad to see you got a few keepers as well. Still remember pulling my first Yastrzemski and not trading it for anything. Oh, the halcyon days of card collecting. We weren't putting them in bike spokes but we sure didn't think of any future for them beyone being scattered all over our rooms for quick access to stats. Thanks for the memories.

I am having shipped out to me today, from BBE, baseball vending boxes from 1978, 1979 and 1980. I can't wait. While I do hope to pull all of the biggees (Murray, Molitor 78, Ozzie 79 and Rickey 80), I will enjoy going through these all the same. I am always tinkering with my mostly raw 78 set (my favorite all time set) and want to put nice 79 and 80 sets, mostly raw in form, in binders. Sure, I could buy complete sets for these years, but what fun is that? It is more fun for me to piece the sets together through unopened purchases. This will be a lot of fun. I will share my results when I get them.

Looks like some nice cards. I recently purchased an 81 Topps Vending box and pulled all the tops stars but Hendereson. I sent 7 in for grading and received the following
    2 Schmidts PSA 8
    2 Raines Rookie PSA 9
    1 Ozzie Smith PSA 8
    1 Nolan Ryan PSA 8
    1 Harold Baines PSA 8

On the 2 Raines I placed a low starting price of $4.99 and that's what they sold for even though SMR lists them at $28....was not a happy camper.

I was very picky on what I sent in by using a 10x loupe and still no 10's. I have not had luck with Topps cards from the 1980's. Very difficult to obtain top grades

Keep us posted on the results...good luck
