baseballs triple crown impossible??

it's been almost 40 years since this has been done, lead your league in HR,RBI and BATTING AVERAGE.i think it will be very hard for this to be ever accomplished again ,it is much harder to do this today with the # of players as compared to 40 years ago. when i was growing up it happened 3x in 10 years in the american league. mantle in 1956,frank robinson in '66 and yaz in '67. if bonds couldn't do it,who can? list

Pujols is capable ... Derek Lee has a strong chance too

Albert Pujols is a candidate every year.

Alex Rodriguez and Vlad Guerrero are also possibilities in the AL.

Bonds walks to much to get the RBI's.

All that needs to happen is for Lee to cool down, and for Pujols to get hot. I watch Pujols every night on TV, and believe me, he hasn't even got hot yet. He has been pretty consistent, but not hot. When he goes on a hot streak, watch out!

I think the overwhelming burden of the media crush would get to any player who's close to winning the triple crown, similar to how it is with hitting streaks. Add in hitting specialists and I think it's unlikely we'll see another triple crown winner.

half-heartedly agree ... with todays pitchers and ballparks, who knows.

Agreed on Pujols - he is da man, and THE BEST HITTER IN BASEBALL

Keep in mind that Frank Robinson was a Triple Crown Winner in the National League too (Reds-1961)

If you think the Triple Crown would be hard to accomplish one record I think will never be broken is Joe DiMaggio's 56 Game Consecutive Hitting Streak because of all the dominant relief pitchers. Hitting .400 would be tougher also in my opinion.

Gemmy10's Tough Feats with #1 being the toughest:

    1) Axtey Rose keeping his mouth shut and not attacking any message board poster for one day.
    2) DiMaggio's 56 Game Consecutive Hitting Streak
    3) Cal Ripken's Consecutive Games Played
    4) Batting .400 in a season
    5) Triple Crown

    NOPE

he won the AL crown in 66 as an O
    Good for you.

DiMaggio's streak is another that will most likely stand for a long time (although somehow I feel if he wasn't a yankee it wouldn't be so high on your list image) Even if you're red-hot, all it takes is one of those games where you only get 1 or 2 official at-bats...

Brian, think about all of the dominant relief specialists (long, short, and closer) today. Did they have those in Jolting Joe's day?

Attacking any poster? No, I just attack stupid things (like queen george's 'summit'....like a meeting is going to make the spankees play better? Is this guy THAT delusional?)

If you don't like my posts spammy DON'T RESPOND TO THEM.

    Buh bye now.
