Has anyone ever played with an unreasonable Ebay buyer or seller who has left you a neg?

I had an error in my listing. Selling a 1996 Lincoln but had 1999 in the title and description header. All other infor was correct including a clear picture in the PCGS holder. We are talking a $10 sale here.

The guy turned me into pay pal right away and notified me he had seen the discrepancy but bid anyway saying he thought the picture was wrong.

It was my error and told him so. Don't know why I put 99 down but did. I offered a full refund plus I would pay return shipping.

He at first wanted $7 returned to him and he would keep the coin. I answered paypal with my offer and even added $1.00 extra for proof of delivery. He accepted and then declined several times thinking I was pulling a fast one on him. The 1996 and 1999 Lincoln
proofs sell for the same price so its not even close to a bait and switch.

His final email to was this:
" I need a partial refund for $4 to cover the inferior coin, i do not trust you to refund my money after I return the coin. Negative feedback will be left if i have not recieved the refund within 3 days. thanks

I am not willing to accept any other so called solutions, because I have to pay for your mistake. I think a partial refund is the best way to go in this situation, positive feedback will be left as soon as i recieve the refund. $12.30 plus $1 is not enough because i will still have to pay for Delivery confirmation. And when you recieve the coin you will have to relist it, another $2 in fees. As i see it you would be better off sending me $4 and ending the hastle right now.

(If i have not recieved a refund by the 8th you will recieve NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. I dont want to hear you crying about the neg in some stupid response or follow up. You have promissed me a 1999 s pcgs pr 69 dcam lincoln cent, so now its time to act like a man and provide what you have promissed or pay up)

I am blocking you on my email, and on my ebay auctions. "

I feel I did all I could. He has several negs and all seem to say he is a hot head.

Needless to say, I got a neg.

He is a penny collector and bids on almost every one that comes. I have started bumping up his bids knowing about what range he is willing to pay. Just a spare time hobby I now have.

Just wondering if anyone else takes to the revenge side now and then. I am not a vengeful person but this guy really pushed my buttons. I bent over backwards to correct it. Have always worked with buyers or sellers if a problem occurs and found most want to work it out.

Maybe he is a forum member and would like to explain his actions.

Since he used PayPal he would not have to fear of not getting his refund. Anything after that is just image
  • how about telling us who the bozo is so we dont have to deal with him???
  • This jack@$$ is quibbling over a whopping $4? What a moron.. I don't know what his problem is. Put him on your blocked bidder list and move on, that filth isn't worth your time.

  • I told him paypal would get his money back for sure if he returned the coin. He wanted me to refund before he sent it back to me.

I asked him what ebay seller or for that matter store would refund without having the product in hand?

All I got back was more gibberish. He wanted the coin, just saw an opportunity to get it a little cheaper.

    he is jghilino on ebay.

    He is blocked for sure.

Someone who has not been blocked should send jghilino an e-mail letting him know that we are discussing his irrational behavior. It would be interesting to have him join us to try to explain his actions. Or is this a dumb idea?

  • I got a NEG for charging exactly what I said I was going to charge for shipping.

I also got a NEG because it actually takes a few days for coin to ship from Florida to Oregon.

Just another bad ebay apple in the barrel........seems like there is getting to be just too many! I got a neg from a seller after he accepted a return then never refunded my money. I left him a neg (which he returned) but I started a campaign since his ebay behavior so warrented it and he got thrown off ebay 2 weeks later ....and this was a power seller with a feedback rating of almost 5000! These is hope.......

  • I would be more interested in the buyer's side of the story if the sums of money were more significant. BUT ITS ONLY $4 HE'S CAUSING ALL THIS TROUBLE FOR.

He's like one of the people who will hold up an entire line in the grocery store to argue about a 25 cent coupon.

Indeed. And do the NPB/FVF procedure on him as well. When he gets three of those, he's auto-NARU'd.

    I approve this message.

    There's only One
  • Blocked the bastiage!! image
  • Unfortunately I left a pos when he paid. I will stop doing that now until I am sure all is well on both sides.

I am not sure what NPB/FVF is.

I did turn him into Ebay for extortion which they do have a policy on but as usual, nothing done.

admitting that openly here is not a good move image

  • I was just outbid, thats all.

    << <i>I am not sure what NPB/FVF is. >>

NPB=Non-Paying Bidder; FVF=Final Value Fees. To start the process, go to your MyeBay screen, Items I've Sold, and choose in the pulldown "Report an Unpaid Item". This will open a Dispute, which you can see in the Dispute Console. After 10 days, you can file to get your Final Value Fees back. Completing this process puts one strike on the bidder's record; when he gets three, he's kicked off eBay.

It is incumbent on every seller to familiarize themself with this process. We all talk about losers on eBay, and wonder why eBay doesn't do anything about them. Well, there is an easy way -- and it only takes three sellers to do it. A loser can get a hundred negs and still be active, but only three of these and he's out.

If you mess with a crazy person, you're as crazy as he is.

A similar event arose here once and someone replied, "Was the negative feedback worth the ($10)?"

Sometimes it makes more sense to cave. You've won the battle on principle, but the neg won't help down the road.

As long as you are willing to pay for the wins (if any) that you get when bidding against him, for ANY reason, I say go for it.
And, yes, I have done similar when someone p*ssed me off for whatever reason. It has cost them more money on other bids image
And, if I did win, yes, I pay and buy the coin. I don't say/enter into anything I am not prepared for the consequences of..and am a man of my word.

As long as you back up your bids with no problem payment, go for it image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

What gets me is that this is a PCGS slabbed coin selling for 10 bucks.
Look what it costs for getting a coin slabbed.
Has coin collecting really gotten this screwed up?
Stop sending pocket change in to be encapsulated.
Fer Cripes sake, use the 2X2's for junk.
Oh by the way, this is why I leave feedback after I get feedback from the buyer.

Where is the blocked bidder list for eBay? I would appreciate it if someone could tell me where, so that I will know for the future, rather than searching for this thread for the link.

That's keyword spamming, and definitely a reportable offense.

Why does eBay have the option to search for a bidder? The only reason I can think of is to outbid them or raise their bid... image

As a seller, it is invaluable when selling higher priced items in determining whether the buyer is "real" or not.
  • I am more than willing to pay if I win an item. I will just list it down the road and get most of the money back. It has not become my lifes work, but at night, during lulls while on line, it has replaced solitaire.

I have also noticed that some pos feedbacks to him have now added follow ups. I didn't know you could do that so have added my 2 Lincolns. At least you can put a PS to your positive now if someone deserves it.
  • I am new to alot of this, But if I were to bid I look at the pic more than the description. If different I ask Questions. The guy is trying to get something for nothing.
