Any good monthly or annual coin shows or coin shops in the DC area??

RampageRampage Posts: 9,512 ✭✭✭✭✭
I may be moving to the area towards the end of this year. I just wondered if I had anything to look forward to. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks, Richard.

Baltimore has a biggie in August, December and March. This is thier web site.
Vienna has a show every few months but it's always crowded and parking stinks.
Mike Dixon has 3 a year up in Frederick, MD.

Silver Spring, MD (on DC metro red line) has at least one coin shop - I think it's called MD Coin Exchange.
Laurel, MD has 2: Golden Eagle (web site) and Metro Coin and Currency (no site - address is actually in Jessup, MD)
I haven't looked for shops in downtown DC, but it seems there should be some. Maybe a lot? Let us know what you find.

The US Mint has a tiny booth size store in Union Station. That's nice to pick up your mint stuff on release day without the S&H.

I stay close to home for the shops and do the Baltimore show. Welcome to the area!

  • Hi Rampage. I live in Arlington. As far as coin shops go, I'd recommend Golden Eagle in Laurel, MD. Their website is http://www.goldeneaglecoin.com. I've been there a few times, and they're pretty nice folks & have decent prices.

For shows.... Tootawl is right about Vienna; it's always too crowded there. I've always been lucky enough to find a parking space though.
  • You're in luck--the Baltimore shows are 45 minutes north of DC Beltway and basically are the biggest in East beides FUN.

Bonanza Coins in Silver Spring, MD is owed by Julian, who has brokered some of the most important rare coins in US--

  • If you go to Silver Spring MD., you should look up Julian Leidman's shop. He is a fine member of this forum. His shop is at 940 Wayne Ave. in Silver Spring, MD.
