Penn Station is at West 32-34 Street. Grand Central is East 42nd Street. From Penn Station you can catch the subway uptown to 42nd Street/Time Square and walk east to Grand Central. Or you can just walk. If its raining forget about finding a cab. There are a zillion cabs in NYC but none are ever available when it rains.

You can take the subway from Penn Station to Times Square. At Times Square there is a free subway connection called the "shuttle" which takes you to Grand Central Terminal.

Looks like the 1 or 9 line will take you to the "S" line LINK

  • Penn & Grand Central are very close together: I've done the trip between the two by subway very easily. The subway stations lead right into the stations and are safe.

You guys are so lazy. It's a nice 15 minute walk. Why take a taxi or subway if it's a nice day? Part of the fun of NYC is just walking and watching people. Just walk north on 7th Ave to 42nd St and make a right. You'll go a few Avenue blocks. You can't miss it.
  • I always walk. During rush hour, it's the fastest way to get around midtown!! image

Walk it. Summers in NYC provide quite a lot of nice "sights". image

Walk it and don't forget to grab a dirty dog along the way!

  • A very short walk in the greatest city on earth, or a taxi driven by osama bin in your city.Unless your carrying alot of money, walk but forget the dirty water dog, we got the best pizza in the world. The best reason to walk it though are the most beautiful woman in summer dresses you will see assembled in one city ever.

It is also restaurant week, but ends 7/1. Cheap (for NYC) lunch and dinners at the top restaurants (although most are probably booked for prime time, but you might be able to get in at off times)

You can get reservations online here
