I got a Bison nickel in change.

I like the design but it's too flat and the lettering is very weak. The planchets should have had more of an upset and the coin should have a higher relief.

  • My wife and I own a business, and we see a lot of change, but we have yet
to see a bison nickel in change.

  • I haven't seen any 2005 dated coins in change yet. The bison nickels I got were mailed to me from a friend in New York.

Almost 7 months into the year, and nothing...

I keep a little bag of interesting coins I find in pocket change and oddly enough, I looked in it last night for nickels after finding a keel boat yesterday. So far there are 4 keel boat nickels and one peace nickel and that's all. I sure don't know where all these milllions of nickels that the mint made went but they sure are not showing up in my pocket change.
  • I'm in PA and I have several from change, no spears though image

  • Only thing I got in change was a boatload of unc. 05 lincolns. Ended up getting a few rolls from the store clerk. Of course, I don't get out much, so that's a big thing for boonieland, TX.
  • So far, I've found 2005-D pennies, nickels, dimes, and California quarters in change. The nickels I found only today in a roll I bought from the bank. There were four of them in the roll.

I have found no Philadelphia coinage and no Minnesota quarters.
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.

The first one I ever saw was given to me by a store manager who knew I was looking for them. It was found in the cash register drawer & was nice enough that I sent it in to
    PCGS. It came back MS64. I still think it's a 65.

Other than that I was given two by the local 7-11 owner but I've only truly received one in change. They are being hoarded big time I think.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

I received one in change while I was in Hawaii last week.
  • I have received over 10 of them in various transactions in MD.

Still haven't seen ANY nickels dated after 2002. No 2004 dimes yet, and the only 2005 coins have been two Lincoln cents, three CA quarters and two Minnesota.
