poll: longterm proof platinum AE's, PR69 plastic or mint packaging

What does your answer depend on... personal preference? Do you think there's going to be a premium for original mint packaging (OMP)? Would it be better to not 'risk' a PR68 or god forbid a pr67 and collect them certified? Does it depend on collecting 1 denomination vs the 4 coin set in case people would buy 4 coins to breakout anyway in 40 years?

I'm really not sure what I would do as a longterm collector if I decided to collect these. the OMP for these is kind of nice, would take up more space in the SDB, but I'd kick myself if 40 years from now I had a PR67CAM in OMP that was only worth say 1/2 of a PCNGCNACS PR69DUFCAM (deep ultra frosted cameo tm). maybe these things would turn in a PR69 holder anyway, so OMP is the way to go? I really just want the coins, I don't care so much about what they're stored in.

edited to add: I was abbreviating OMP=original mint packaging, is that a used acronym?

I don't think too much value is added with certification for proofs, though, with the amount of counterfeits reported, I would never buy a non-certified unc piece. That being said...

I have two proof platinum coins, left in the original mint packaging. It looks *sharp*, much sharper than in a slab, IMHO. From the coins I've seen (like, 5 in my whole life) they all look razor sharp PR69Dcam to me. If stored properly, in the mint packaging, they should look in 30 years how they look today. I was looking at a lot of my 1982-1992 commem silver dollars and clad halves and they still look fantastic, BUs and proofs. I've never in my entire life heard of a platinum coin toning, but I suppose anything is possible.

Because of the counterfeit 1/10 oz. pieces, I would probably want at least that denomination to be certified.

Are counterfeit 1/10 ounce platinum eagles that much of a problem? The only one I read about in the coin papers was a fairly crude effort that wouldn't fool many experienced collectors.

I've collected the 1oz PAEs in the OMP for the past five years.

Original mint packaging would be my preference if I liked these. However, I don't like the idea of bullion as a collectible.
