There seems to be very little movement in the registry sets that I follow and compete in.
Is everyone waiting until June 30th????
Just checking to see where everyone stands!!!

My Washington Type B/C Set
It's not like you can just go out and buy a bunch of top pops today to secure your position by Thursday!
I suppose there is some excitement in it for some - for me it is ho-hum.

This is my first posting on this forum.
I update as soon as I have a new coin that is eligible.
I am just a coin enthusiast and a coin collector. I really couldn't conceive of "holding back" until I see what "the other guys are doing".
I completed my Morgan Dollars with Varieties, Circulation Strikes set on Sunday, June 26, and I was happy to finally see that much sought after 100% at long last. That was simply because of the elation I felt not having any more coins missing from that set. I know that I'll be upgrading here and there and probably selling some of the coins that wll be replaced but there is no hurry for now.
As far as I am concerned the Registry Set is just a means of having a sort of guide or map showing which coins and varieties are needed to complete a specific set.
I don't think that it's a good idea to start competing with the other Registry Sets though becuase that becomes just a comparison between the discretional income of one collector as opposed to that of another.
In my dreams maybe I would have liked to have been a Norweb or Eliasberg or Commodore Perry. After a thorough reality check I can safely say that I am not. :-)
I like my coins just as I enjoy those other collectors have. It doesn't matter whether it's an MS68PL or an AU58 or an MS62 or MS63. Looking at an appealing coin is nice even if it is not worth a fortune.

What I set out to do is to have fun obtaining/collecting lincoln cents and I am having a blast doing just that! This afternoon I finally got around to adding my 62-D in 66 and my 63-D in 65 and have completed my set. Some other coins have yet to be added but I will add them when the cert #'s become available. If not available by June 30th, so be it.
I am quite content with the fact that I went from just 35% complete a couple of months ago (when I purchased a starter set from Mustangman) to 100% complete now. I am looking forward to beginning the upgrading process as well as concentrating on photographing my MS memorials. I have also recently started on MS wheats....so now I am working on two registry sets. I have also found a great website (thanks to TonedPeaceNut) that will allow me to document my entire collection online...FOR DIRT CHEAP.
I love this hobby and I have made some good friends along the way!!!!
Do you realize that you are only 99% done and do not have a 1969 listed?
#1 just become tougher.
It would take 3 upgrades with less than 13 coins available (10 of one of the three dates) to do that.

Last time I looked, some new set bumped me down another notch.... It's getting tough
to stay in the top-20 in MS Ikes.
A new #3.....whoever you are.......CONGRATS!...That's one he11-of-a-set you put together!
Happy Hunting!

I LOVE IKES!
In the basic registry set, I have 77 of 97 in MS-60 or better (6 - 66, 23 - 65, 21 - 64, 13 - 63, 10 - 62, 3 - 61, and 1 - 60). I also have 8 in AU (1 - 58, 3 - 53, and 4 - 50). The rest are XF (3), VF (6), F (2) and one G (1893-S). The set is 100% complete.
My set is not even in the top 40.
And to make things worse, the number one set - California I has updated and is almost a complete point higher than the number two set. Almost a complete point higher than the number two set is unbelievable. On average every coin in the number one set is a 66.
Just did a little breakdown on my own.
ms66-24
ms65-14
ms64-34
ms63-7
ms62-4
au58-7
au55-1
au53-4
au50-1
vf35-1
Every new move gets tougher and more spensive.
I did alittle Monday, Tuesday and a even alittle earlier today. I had one submission post fron 4-21-05 just last night while chatting with the King of Canada "MadMarty". We were both shocked. (You know I just had to add them, right then and there.
<< <i>I could upgrade one at any time, but what is the purpose. If it is not on top, there is really no rush. >>
There is a lot of truth in that. Rather than be actively looking for upgrades its more a matter of being ready if/when opportunity presents itself.
