Where do most of you obtain the information for "declaring" the value of cards you are submitting?

I use what it would cost to replace the card if it gets destroyed somewhere along its trip to Newport Beach and back...

I assume you declare its raw value in the condition you think its in right?

Good question Softparade. If it's an item I can replace without too much effort, I use what it would cost me to replace the raw card. If it's an item that's ultra tough to find, I use what it cost me to obtain it.

Has anyone had items damaged on the way to PSA and had to deal with this question?

That's what I do soft, unless it is an awesome card I figure what the value graded will be. I sent in a 76 Payton that was bound for an 8 and possibly a 9(it got an 8 ) but I declared the value for a 9.

I remember reading somewhere on here. smr 6 for pre 72 and smr 8 for modern, or your personal value???? it kinda falls into the "common" trouble we all have.
