1978 1979 1980 Topps Vending From BBE

Hello All:
I have heard nothing but good things about Baseball Card Exchange on these boards. Thank you all for directing me to a new source.
I am mulling over my first order with BBE and wonder if any of you have purchased a 1978, 1979 or 1980 Topps baseball vending box from him recently? I only ask because I am curious about the condition of the cards (i.e., if the cases are yielding good cards or one of the cases that has problems with uniform dinged corners). These were three of my biggest collecting years as a kid. 78 is my all time favorite set and the year I started collecing (though I chose 71 Topps, my birth year, for my big all PSA set); I remember buying tons of 79 Topps baseball and love the design; 80 I didn't for some reason get as many as a kid but love the set especially the Henderson rookie, my all time favorite player. Any thoughts? I have sent Steve an e-mail for some input.
Alternatively, I am thinking about buying one of the 1978 Topps wax boxes from a case. I have read a number of people here have had good results with those. However, with the wax and gum staining taking out, from what I read, about 70 cards automatically per box, you are looking at $575 for only about 430 cards. This makes the vending at $300 for 500 cards more appealing (though perhaps more risky with the corner ding issue). I think like everyone else, I have had mixed results with vending, some good, some bad.
Thanks in advance for the input!

Some of the cards from the wax box were out of this world. I have never seen better surfaces on a 1978 card than some of the ones I pulled from the boxes. Also, almost zero damaged cards from the wax except for the gum obviously. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

<< <i>Did all you guys get bit by a bug or something? I can't believe the number of people that are collecting high grade 1978 sets! I always enjoy the threads and stories, but I've got to say that I just don't get it. Of course, I don't need to, and you probably don't understand why I have 1800 different Will Clark cards. >>
Why don't you "get it" ? Is it a value thing? The 1978 set is just a beautiful set. Why not collect it in high grade? I will say if you are a collector worried about value and re-sale over collecting cards you enjoy then by all means stay away!

Sorry...I didn't mean to slight you guys at all. I just think it's kinda funny that there are a handful of people hanging out here that are actively collecting the set. I think it's cool that you do, but I just don't have the love for that set that you guys do. Hey, did you guys ever buy that case from BBExchange you were talking about a few weeks ago? I was looking forward to the thread after you all busted your boxes open, but I'm guessing it didn't happen.
And you can absolutely trust me that I collect to collect, not to invest or resell. That's why the majority of my cards are in plastic pages and not plastic slabs. My Will Clark binders would be one of the first things I grabbed if my apartment burned down even though it'd be pretty tough to get 10% of book "value" for it.
Edited to say: Dan, I really love the scans you have for your registry set. I wish more people would take the time to share their collections with the world. It's got to take a looong time to scan all those cards, but I, for one, think it's worth it.
You must be listening to my wife! We are in special company - outside of ourselves - "nobody" gets it.

Both are reputable and Mickey's is also an upstanding dealer as well.
1980 Topps are a biz-nitch to collect if you want mint condition cards though. If you have $$$ I would suggest buying 1978 Topps, from reading the boards, peeps here have had really nice results.
