OT: I'm spending all of my coin money on books!!!

I joined the Folio Society early this year and they have so many wonderful editions of classic history and literature books that I can't seem to stop myself from ordering! I joined only because I wanted their Tolkien set. I told myself that I would only buy the four additional books that were required to complete my end of the deal and then I would be done with them. I ordered "Lives of the Twelve Caesars" and three books on medieval history, they also sent me "The Greek Myths" by Robert Graves as a free bonus. When my books got here I was amazed at the quality, there is nothing that I have seen that can rival the perfection of Folio Society books, each comes in it's own slipcase with buckram or blocked cloth covers and printed on wood-free and acid-free paper. There are few things that fire me up as much as a beautiful book! At any rate when I got the catalog of all the titles that they offer things got really out of hand, I am buying books that I already own in other editions because these are such a pleasure to read (you should see their editions of Homer)!

I just placed an order for these:

We could gouge your eyes out with a stick, but you'd still be able to buy coin books...

I made that one for some post a while ago and saved it in my Upload Box.

I knew it would come in handy again one day. (The Braille characters on the cover spell out I-D-I-O-T.) image

I was going to say, "Been there, done that," but it would be more accurate to say, "Am there, doing that."
  • Please don't get me started back buying books. I only quit because I ran out of shelf space in my library.

I haven't spent a dime on coins in six weeks (after overextending my coin budget) but have added numerous books to the library in that time period.

Aethelred, the Folio society is indeed a great source but have you considered buying genuinely old books with great leather covers, gilt edging, etc?

Coins and books do go together quite well, in fact I can't imagine one without the other.

I have two books from the 1700s, but I can't really get into books that I so special I am afraid to read them.
