Cameo designation on proof Franklins...earlier issues vs. later issues.

I looked at a lot of proof Franklins at the coin show yesterday, and bought two. It was my impression that both PCGS and NGC are looser on the cameo designation on earlier 50's coins than on those from the later 50's and 60's. Am I imagining this? What about other series over the same time period?

Actually, I think the TPGs are much tougher on earlier proofs... they really have to be completely all there for them to call it CAM, and they practically have to float on water to make DCAM/UCAM...

I have seen CAM's from the years 1950 & 51 which were barely there, but recently I saw a 1953 CAM 67 in a new NGC holder which should have been in a UCAM holder. Maybe they are getting stricter giving out the CAM designation.

It really depends on the grading time frame. Both companies went through their sloppy periods with these. I've seen many, many PCGS cameos and deep cameos that would not reholder as such if submitted today. Same with NGC.
