Actual SMR

Our deceitful buddy Nomar was ROBBED a 10 for his (her?) 9OC Bird/Erving/Magic RC. So, of course he litters the description with the value of a PSA 10 and the words PSA 10. The bidding is up to $510 already. What is the actual SMR for a 7 on this card, since that is what its true value is.

There is no SMR for a 7, but an 8 is only listed at 220...

The bidding is up to $699 with 8 days left! Nomar claims the SMR for a 10 is $3,500, is that even right? I have e-mailed the high bidders.

Could you provide a link to this?

  • This Nomar scam artist should have his own message board. There have been at least 10 threads about him in the past month. The most notorious scam I could find was when he bought 3 trimmed cards and sold them with disclosing the trim job - of course for much more than he paid for them.

I think the reason I have such a beef is the choice of name - nomar is one of my favorite players, and he went to my school. Maybe if the scammer changes to giambi666, I wouldn't have such a problem.

That is a complete joke - isn't he violating Ebay rules by misrepresenting the item in the title?

And, to have the stones to say that the card wasn't graded right - image

I like Nomar the ball player just fine, it is just this Nomar the scam artist that gets me. I don't know why it gets my goat, maybe I need therapy? LOL.

I am fairly new to the board and I haven't gottne sick of the scammer or what will this grade? threads yet.
  • All you have to do is look at all of the OC cards he bought and just wait for them to be listed as PSA 10's with a 3,500 SMR. Should be a PSA 10 Aaron coming up soon (8OC), 57 Koufax (7OC) and a Honus Wagner auto (facsimile). Should be listed in a couple of weeks. This guy/girl is as predictable as they come.....

Well, this Yaz auction is even worse...first, he lists it as a PSA 9 $500!, then he shows the card in his scan (its a PSA 7).

Then, he whines about how he was "robbed", and it "should be a 9", but it isn't. Boy, Nomar is one unlucky dude in the grading room, isn't he?

Then, midway down the auction description, he really lies -

<< <i>This card was graded a MINT 9 by PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) PSA along with BGS (Beckett Grading Service), and BVG (Beckett Vintage Grading) are by far the most respected and trusted brands in sports card grading. This card was graded by a professional card grader at PSA. >>

    It's not a PSA 9, genius! It's a PSA 7 - and it's worth maybe $25.00, tops!

Now if this isn't a bunch of crapola, I don't know what is. And, again, I can't believe this doesn't violate some Ebay policy.

    Dear Group,
I just thought I would add my $.02 regarding the "PSA 10." I emailed the seller
    the following message:

"Please confirm that the card for auction is a PSA 9OC and not a PSA 10. Thank
    you."

This is the response that I received.

"I have inspected the card and deem it a 10 in my professional opinion. I have had many bad experiences with PSA graders. I have had Mint 9's with dings and 7's that look perfect. Grading is very subjective. Sometimes you get someone very anal, sometimes you get someone that is blatenly retarded. All you can hope for is someone who knows what they are doing. Unfortunetly, which is the case with this beautiful card, I got someone who does not know what they are doing.

    Thanks,
    Irena (nomar5378) "

All thoughts and comments are welcomed. Of course, it goes without saying that
her "professional opinion" is worth about $.02 and PSA gets the other $99.98.

    From her ME page -

<< <i>WE ONLY SELL GRADED CARDS FROM THE MOST TRUSTED GRADERS IN THE INDUSTRY (PSA, BGS, BVG, GAI, AND SGC). YOU WON'T FIND ANY GRADED CARDS FROM ANY INFERIOR GRADING COMPANIES IN OUR EBAY LISTINGS.
    >>

So, I guess she forgot to include the "blatantly retarded" graders...

The auction was removed for some reason. Did Ebay actually get off their dead arses and do something??
  • ctsoxfanctsoxfan Posts: 6,246 ✭✭
Well, how about that? I'll bet it was removed for advertising a different card in the auction title - and it should have been.

Too bad that's not what he's selling! image
  • I've been pretty anal lately - everytime I step on one of these turds, I report it. It's about time they listened.

I reported to ebay under the keyword spamming rule. I don't know if anyone else did also.

  • Look, you guys need to get off your butts and make complaints to ebay about him. Go to the front page of ebay, lower left, and go to the "Austrailia" page. Then find Nomar's auctions and at the bottom of the page is a way to directly report something about the card. Then make a complaint. Yesterday I got one of his auctions tossed. If we all do it, he's toast.
