Just picked this up at the Mid America show.... it's an NGC proof 66... hope to cross to PCGS to complete the registry set.

Is that holder pretty beat up?

Did you select the coin because it closely matched the others in the set? Hard to tell off the pics, but the toning seems different. Based on the image, I don't believe they'll cross it ... unless the toning matches the others and you submit them all together, in which case you may get the benefit of the doubt.

Still having warm thoughts regarding the shield nickel in that set! Mmmmmm...

Coin matches nicely with others in set... all others part of an orinigal set. If it doesn't cross, I might submit the entire group at another time. Will let everyone know if it crosses.

And yes, the holder is pretty beat up.

Since this is a proof coin. Would it be a option to conserve the coin then get it regraded. That spotting is rather distracting to the bueaty of the coin. I for one believe that cleaning or conservering should only be allowed on proof coinage.
BTW that is one really nice image you posted of the coin.

Just got the results and it did not cross... dissappointed! Still a beautiful coin.

If the holder is beat up that could affect it not crossing. Submit it to NGC for
    reholder and then try again.

Generally speaking (and there are obviously many exceptions) PCGS is tougher on Proof type coins than NGC is. I doubt that the holder had anything to do with that coin not crossing.
