Old London Baseball coins

Hi all. Can any of you savvy baseball card guys offer some info on the Old London Baseball coins? Which ones are the rarest? Lowest populations, etc. I remember these from 1960's and find them to be very cool. Your input is much appreciated. Thank you. imagematteproof

    1965 Old London Coins

These are 1.5" metal coins that were included in Old London Snack Food packages. The 40 coins in this set features two players from each of the major leagues 20 teams, except St. Louis with 3 and the Mets with only 1. Coin fronts have color photos and player names, while the silver-colored coin backs give brief biographies of each player. An Old London logo is also displayed on each coin back. Space Magic Ltd. produced the coins. This is the same company which produced similiar sets for Topps in 64 and 71.

The Nm complete set goes for about 425$.

  • Hi Stone193. Thank you much for the info. It is very helpful. If I may inquire one last thing, are there any particular "rarities" among these? Or, are they all pretty much available most of the time. Thank you again for your input Stone193. image matteproof

There are no variations listed that would command a premium. In the past, I have read that if the item is still in its original wrapper unopened, it would command 25% more - not sure if that still holds tho.

Interesting note: I went back to a 1988 Beckett collectibles to see what the set was going for and it was listed at 450$ nmt!!!! If you adjust for inflation, this set has dropped! Now what price these things will actually bring? I'm clueless - a check of ebay might give you insight.
