Longacre engraved his name boldly on the J-561, though the inscription reads "LONGACRE F." when his name was James Barton. Do you know why?

It was a good question.
I was pretty sure I was right but not 100%, so I posted. Had I been completely sure I was right, I would've held back and waited, so as not to blow your fine trivia thread.
