Blank Backs

I was digging through my doubles and came across a 72 Lance Alworth blank back I bought about 15+years ago. I used to hear there was a market for these several years ago, but a search on this site offered very little info, except some of the grading companies would't grade them a couple of years ago.

Any more info on the blank backs out there?

Beckett I think will grade them and I know PSA will not. I had some 79 fbs and they didn't relly sell higher than the regular issue.

I always wondered how these cards came into being? Are they misprints? Or are they "backdoor" products?

I do know that the Toppsvault sells a lot of proofs that are blank backed - I own some really nice three card proofs that are probably on the rare side.
