Marshall, Marshall, Marshall!!

Well, here is the card I won the other night with a bigger scan so we all can see it better. I am really happy with it and the price was good to. At $360.00 it was well under the smr of $450.00. Bottom edge is a little rough but I guess within the 10 standard.

Great card! I think Marshall Faulk is one of most underrated RBs in the hobby. He had a good hobby following, but I don't think he was ever "the guy" like Emmitt, Barry, or even Edgerrin James at his peak.

He needs about 400 yards to pass Franco Harris into #10 all time rushing. Not bad for a guy that was supposed to be washed up in Indy.

  • I didn't follow him when he was with Indy, was he really seen as being washed up? I think he had something like 1600+ yards rushing and 900+ yds rec in his last year there, which consiquently was Peyton Mannings first season. I can only imagine where he'd be now if he stayed in Indy with Peyton manning.

Of course, as a RAMS collector I only concern myself with post-Indy Faulks. But still, I would love to have a card like that.

Marshall's last year with Indy was OK. 1300 yds, 450 yds rec, and 9 TDs. But the previous three years were pretty average around 1000 yds, one year at 600 yds. Indy's offense blew (you don't get consecutive top 5 picks by being good), so I never thought it was totally Faulk's fault. I actually bought a ton of his lower priced rookies before the trade to the Rams.

I think everyone thought the Colts "sold high" when they traded him.

I'm pretty sure that Indy figured by '99 Faulk had 5 years of NFL abuse on him. So they decided to cut their ties and start over with a "fresh Legged" rb to go with their second year qb. I think it was a mistake. Faulk went on to have some monster seasons with the Rams, relativitly injury free I might add. I will go out on a limb and say if Indy kept him they may have won a superbowl already. Edge was good but after the knee injury he's not the same.

Faulk, at times, was called a little 'soft' when playing for Indy. I remember the AFC Title game in January, 1996 against the Steelers he didn't even bother suiting up for the game. I don't think he had a 'major' injury, either. I believe they would have beaten the Steelers that day if they had Faulk (Heck, they really should have beaten them that day, anyway, even without him).

For a minute I thought this thread was about the "sibling rivalry" of Marshall Fogel!
