Violations of Terms of Sale--what to do?

At the end of my ebay auctions I have this statement, quote:
"****If paying by PayPal, note that for your protection I only ship to CONFIRMED addresses.****"
The last FOUR PEOPLE who have purchased coins from me have paid with unconfirmed addresses. I have PayPal set to require me to accept the payments (not to reject them automatically). Each buyer has had over 100 feedback on eBay with no negatives and has been a PayPal member for between four and 18 months. Shipping to an unconfirmed address means that I am not protected by PayPal's seller protection policies. Do you think it's safe to go ahead and ship the items to the unconfirmed address, or should I reject the payments and require them to pay with a confirmed address? I'm afraid that if I reject the payments and I have a PITA buyer I could get a neg, even though the terms of the auction clearly state my policy. What do I do?!!!
It is incredibly annoying that people cannot read! Just last month I sold an aquarium on eBay and the very first words of the auction were "Local pickup only, please." The guy paid then emailed me a week later asking when I was going to ship the aquarium!
EDIT: The items are all worth about $70.

I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

If we're talking about a $25 item to a high-feedback bidder, I'd be inclined to accept it and let it slide. I'll take a chance there.
If we're talking about a $1,000 item to a very low (or bad) feedback bidder...no way -- I reject it.
I feel your pain. Half my Auctions that closed Sunday I'm having the same problem. I think there may be an eBay/PayPal issue here with zip +4 addresses? I haven't shipped the coins to the winners who didn't have confirmed addresses. It's a personal decision you'll have to make. I just hope I don't get a bunch of Negatives. Oh well. The buyers shoud have read the listing is how I see it. I refunded all of them one I had to do twice cause he was a Hard Head.
Joe.
I've had mine set to "ask" for years but recently changed it to require confirmed addresses, just because the nice people on eBay annoy me. I'm not in a hurry for the money so they can go get a money order and save me the 1.4% ( 2.9% - 1.5% rebate on the PayPal Mastercard)
But I've shipped hundreds of coins to uncofirmed addresses without any problem, mostly under $50, with the largest $650 and I only took that one after declining it once and talking to the buyer.
And I use a PO box myself which is uncofirmed and have had thousands of coins delivered there. Very few sellers ever say anything about it.
For the most part, it's just that people are basically stupid and not out to rip you off. If you've checked their feedback and the coin isn't a lot of money, just go ahead and ship it.
Even on a confirmed address, I wouldn't trust PayPal to offer much protection anyway.

That's nice - unless it's a hijacked account.

And if they neg? My main question is: do you think it's safe to ship a $70 item to someone with good eBay feedback and lots of PayPal transactions? Should I email the ebay bidder to make sure their paypal account hasn't been hijacked? Should I request their info and call them? If someone called you to verify that you were the one who made the purchase, would you be offended?
- You'll have a negative feedback on eBay

- Yes
Should I email the ebay bidder to make sure their paypal account hasn't been hijacked?
- Only if you want to annoy them

- Only if you REALLY want to annoy them

- I'd be annoyed.

Thanks for your opinion. Hope I didn't annoy you
P.S. People not reading my auctions annoys me, so I guess it would be mutual!

You would not be in a position where you even had to worry about a neg if it was already set to reject payments automatically. By allowing acceptance and then rejecting after the fact, you have opened yourself up to the possibilty. Mine has always been setup to reject, and it's never been a problem.

Why would that be "annoying?" It's perfectly acceptable for a seller to contact an individual with whom a solicited transaction is about to take place, even if it's over the phone. Unless you're a grump who cannot be "disturbed" or one who believes they are "holier than thou," why get upset over a seller taking precautions? Put yourself in the sellers shoes...would you accept a Paypal transfer of...say $1000 for a coin from someone with an unconfirmed address??? I'm betting not.

Actually, it's more of a combination of the two.
Besides, I like to keep my phone line open so I won't miss any important telemarketing calls.
