Has anyone ever visited the Carson City mint?

I'm planning a trip with a boardmember this summer and want to get a heads up on what to expect.
Collecting since 1976.

There is a coin show there once a year that is pretty decent. Not a big show but it's nice to take in if you're there around that time.

Can't remember but I believe it's in August.

I was there last summer, very nice, lost of exhibits, and a complete collection, I guess on loan, of every cc silver and gold coin minted there, not condition censes by any means but nice display to look at. If you have the time probably would take a few hours to really look at everything!!

I've now been to almost all the important mints: Carson City, Dahlonega, Charlotte, & New Orleans. Carson City is by far the most interesting. It is worth a stop if you are in Carson City. I hope to go back this year.

  • I went several months ago. I went with a buddy who knows the owner of the coin shop across the street. I enjoyed the trip immensely.

The CC Mint was neat, but unfortunately they were remodeling so their coin collection wasn't available for viewing. That was a disappointment. I'd call to make sure it is back on display.
