Unsticking cards?

Anybody have any tips on unsticking cards that have been stored raw in set type boxes. I tried to go thru a bunch of cards I had stored from the early 90's and they are all stuck together. I tried to just gently pull them apart but it only peeled pieces off the cards. I found some Pedro, chipper and other rooks but most are no good now with missing layers.

I'm curious...which cards are we talking about? I know that the UV coated cards tend to stick together.
Where were they stored? Sounds like they were subjected to a lot of moisture?

If you want to try an experiment - put two stuck cards in the freezer for a few hours - then bring them out and see if you can pull them apart - a few commons would be nice to experiment with - how about from extreme cold to a few secs on the microwave? I wonder if that would shock them apart?

This is a tuff one - I think it's time for me to check some of that 90's crap in the closet? image
Is there anyone who doesn't think 92UD rules!?!?

  • Sounds like they are Pinnacle cards. I've had a gazillion of them stuck in boxes since 95. When I do sheetrock work around the house I use them as stilts...

Actually try putting them in the freezer. It seems to work most of the time

The cards are Score, Pinnacle, Ultra. I only got into a few boxes when I realized they were all stuck together. Being that I live in Florida the moisture thing might be a possibility. They were always stored in my closet and we always have the ac going down here. Thanks
