Do auction houses ever turn away consignments?

Yes, I had several $1,200 coins out of a batch refused for the ANA Sale of Heritage because they were not high enough in value. Of course they would include them in the other sales.

At the summer ANA in 2004, I asked Heritage if they would take a coin that I had to consign in an auction. It had a retail value of $500-600. They told me that they were not interested in consignments for less than $5000.
