Anyone else occasionally search through change?
I have a few of these i've found over the years. A scarce 1992 10p variety. (Highest grade one i've found, in aVF or thereabouts, i even stuck it in an airtite).

The L and I in Elizabeth point at dots, the 1 in 10 on the reverse points at a dot also. This variety makes up much less than one percent of the entire 1992 mintage. Of which i believe none of these made it into UNC sets, i think the whole issue went into circulation.

1p = 1971-present (no rare varieties)
2p = 1971-present (only rare variety is the 1983 error 2p, with the wrong reverse legend, it says 'NEW PENCE', but that legend had been dropped in 1981 and replaced by 'TWO PENCE') The 1982-84 issues though were not released into circulation anyhow.
5p = 1990-present (no rare varieties)
10p = 1992-present (1992 have six varieties, four common, one scarce, one rare) rest of mintage of other date no rare variants.
20p = 1982-present (no rare varieties)
50p = 1997-present (no rare varieties)
£1 = 1983-present (1988 is very scarce in circulation), tons of forgeries of all dates exist.
£2 = 1997-present (no rare varieties).
No coins have mintmarks as they're all from Llantrisant mint in Wales. There's just nothing really rare out there, the 10ps are the ones you can only get in circulation, you can buy all the rest in BU for not much over face value. The 1983 error 2p is the only real key to the series, that year' 2ps were only available in sets and only a handful of sets have turned the error up and dealers have most of those now and are holding them till the market figures out what it wants to pay for them. The mint sets with that error included are approaching £200. I know one dealer who has one and he won't sell it me!
One question, how much will this 1992 10p worth?

10p at the moment. Well put it this way the majority of the collecting world doesn't know about them as they are not listed in catalogues and it'll take a few years more before i think anyone bothers to include them. Since all surviving examples have been in circulation since 1992 i should think that in a few years time getting one above VF will be very tricky.
Pricewise therefore i have no idea as there's no demand for them at the moment (true of the current coins in general though, us Brits generally don't bother collecting from change, we haven't since decimalisation). Although if the UK were to change to the euro or something, or decimal collecting comes into vogue in say 50 or so years time and the varirty has made it into the books by then, then i should think they'll be worth a fair bit more than 10p. Still i cherry picked it from change so if i'll probably make a profit on it at some point, not that i'm bothered. I just like looking for them!
