Where did all the high grade 1966 Topps come from?

I've been away from the quest to complete my 1966 Topps set and the boards for about 6 months. I've noticed that PC's high grade master set is almost non-existant. I know he has started a new one up. Hopefully it stays put this time around. I have noticed alot of PSA 9 on EBAY as of late. Normally there would be one or two a week, no there seems to be 10+ a week. Just wondering where they are all coming from. I have manage to pick up on a couple and look to be at 60% complete by the end of the year.

Gaspipe,
Good luck on your submission, I have a few hundred raw but mostly in the 5-6 range, got them years ago before I new the difference.

I have seen quite a bit of interest in the 66 set of late.
This is totally the unknown for me, I have quite a few psa cards, but have never submitted, and do not know that much about it.
Any advice from the veteran collectors would be apprciated.
Thanks in advance,
Doug
Edit: Sorry I probably should have used a new thread, and not added on to this one.

45% complete.
Currently PSA has a special and that would be $5 a card for those.
Try and use your 12 free subs for more valuable cards that would usually cost more to submit.
And regarding what to look for w the '66's
make sure the corners have no wear, and the centering is good all the way around.
And if you see a wrinkle or a crease, so will the grader. Do not submit it.
Good luck w/ your subs...jay

Good point. Makes complete sense to use the freebies for more valuable cards. I have more than enough of the 66's to get the lower rate I believe that has a 25 minimum.
Thanks for the advice.

So even if ya didn't have enough '66's, anything else later would work...jay

Thanks again, my biggest concern is that my opinion of what an 8 or 9 is, may not be even close to reality. I just need to get a submission in to see how it works. Definitely have first game jitters so to speak.
Although from numerous postings on the board I guess if I think it's a 9, just keep submitting till I get it. I have a problem with that as I have mentioned in other posts.
Thanks again,
Doug
45% complete.
when all of my cards that i have bought ship to me, i will hit the 2/3 mark in PSA 9+ for the 1966 set which still doesn't get me into the top 10.
i don't know how other sets go but there are some major league shootouts for this set. a 1/1 psa 9 milt pappas went for $1000+ on Easter. there are a few monster bidders, and others that drift and out. i would never want to see what i have spent so far.
there are also bidders with common sense who put there bids in and if they win great, if they lost they'll get 'em next time and they never overspend.
i am set committed so my goal is to get to 75% by the end of 2006. good luck on the set. if you are interested in starting i have some hi pops that i will sell at a good deal.
check this little 1/2 that sold tonight: tough first name to live up to
Czar - the example you gave on the Jesus Alou card - I notice that member guy beat you out again - I see his name a lot on the 1967s also, so you are not alone.
bxb-yes member is #1 in the registry. and although we have cost each other boatloads by raising up prices, i do have respect for him as a bidder. he has consistently chased after this set longer than i. do i wish he would lay low for 6 months-YES, but that is not going to happen so i have to get leftovers or pay a bunch.
There have been rumors for quite awhile that cases of '60s thru '70s raw material has just been sitting in wharehouses (Fritsch, etc.). The only question is when to release it and how much how fast? We'll just have to wait and see if this bonanza really happens
house of cards-we all heard those rumors for years. if it is one guy he might try to spoon feed into the market, but if it is multiple people sitting on this stuff why would they wait. i would not want to be the one sitting on this merchandise as supply crushes demand. there are several cards whose pops for 9 have gone up quite a bit in the last 18 months. still it would take quite a collapse of the entire card market for a 40 year set to take a financial nose dive. there are still only 158 psa 10's and only 117 cards in the set that have made it to 10. There are 3 (non-err) cards that have no 9's or 10's and 21 with pop 1 in 9. so still a lot of difficulty.
The more virgin material that comes out the better. There are kids not even born that will be chasing this stuff some day. A high pop card today may be a white whale 25yrs. from now?
