OT:What if a power seller buys your coins on a Buy It Now and never pays?

I think I got a hold of one of these power sellers...what will Ebay do? He holds my coins hostage for 1 week and what if the prices drop...he has cost me money!

Treat him like any other non-paying bidder/buyer.

Did he actually "refuse to pay" ???

BUY IT NOW does not automatically translate into instant payment!!

  • Well you should hear something from the person after 4 days...I know Buy It Know does not mean instant payment...but at least an email should be sent...so the person on the other end is not left sitting wondering what is going on...I would think that a little curtesy would come in place somewhere.

  • No, when I first started with Ebay a few years ago...I had a camera on sale with Buy It Now...well a moron bought it...beautiful camera with all the lenses and other things that went with it...He bought it and then refused to pay for it...Ebay never did refund my fees...that is when I refused to sell on ebay ever again...this was my first attempt after about 4 years.

Did you send the buyer an email and/or invoice for the sale ? If you did, how long after the Buy it Now was used ?

Did your auction state in specifics your payment terms ? ( PayPal, Money Order, Check....etc...., time limit, shipping fees...etc...)

I'm seeing more and more listings that require a Paypal account and instructions that if you use the "Buy It Now" feature, payment must be made within 24 hours of the auction ending.

There should be an extra "kick in the nuts" feature for Power Sellers.

Failing that, the usual NPB/FVF/neg procedure will have to do.

Make sure to do the FVF part! Not only do you get your fees back, but if an eBayer gets 3 of these, they are auto-NARU'd.
  • flaminio, I am dumb when it comes to ebay...what is an FVF!

FVF stands for "Final Value Fees" -- the money you pay eBay when your item sells. If the transaction is not completed, you can get that money back. After filing a Non-Paying Bidder report, you wait ten days (presumably time enough for the buyer to get his act together), and then if you still haven't paid you can get your money back. The new Dispute Console in MyeBay makes this fairly simple.

Negative feedback is fun, but the FVF process is where the real action's at -- it only takes three to get someone booted from eBay. I'm sure we've all looked at some buyers with lots of negative feedback, wondering why they're still on eBay. If the sellers had completed the procedures, they wouldn't be.
  • Thank You flaminio, I understand now and will do...it is much different than the olden days of ebay...you had to hunt and hunt and hunt to find...and then never receive.
