Yeah- What a beauty. Looks like a small edge chip top right center. I enjoy how the seller states
Sorry, I do not end my auctions early.
I think I am going to start doing this. I just had a 77 Mel Blount PSA 9 go for $90+ and the first day I had a guy offer me $25 delivered. I told him I had a hunch it would go for a bit more than that. Funny thing is it was a BVG 8.5 that I cracked and resubmitted. I bought it for $16 and change. Didn't mean to hijack the thread but felt like sharing
Wow is right! For the disparity between a 10 and a 9 - this may be one card where I would scour the countryside till I found a really nice 9 and live with it - kind of like a poor man's 10.

How true that is...can you believe someone would pay thousands for a 10 of this card (I'll guess), when a perfectly good 9 can be had for a few hundred? I know you can say this about most any card, but it never ceases to amaze me.

That's why it's not uncommon to see dealers buying high-end 8's and 9's of that card off ebay. That's a pretty big markup for such little difference in quality. I haven't played the crack and resubmit game nearly as much as some people here, but, shoot, even if it took 15 tries to get a 9 in a 10 holder, it would be well worth it.
SDavid..I think you are onto something. If you buy 10 PSA 9's instead of one PSA 10, crack and resub, you may end up with 1 10 and 9 9's. Then the 10 cost you the price of a 9 plus the grading fees. That would be an interesting expiriment.
Anyone know why '81 Montana is so tough in PSA 10? I presume if it was not that hard, like most of 1980s baseball, DSL and 4SC would have buried the market knee-deep in them by now.
I am not an expert on the card by any means, but I know it is next to impossible to find a well-centered version of the Montana RC. Even some 9's I've seen have not had ideal centering, which leads you to believe that the standards for this particular card are perhaps relaxed just a bit to allow for some Mint examples.

So I discovered when I shopped for a PSA 9 Montana rookie. Most were 60-40 at best, and 65-35 (what some might call a slider) was not that uncommon either.
