Mercury folks...How does this look for a Registry Photo ?

Over on the coin board Frank, FC57Coins, put up a picture of one of his coins that look much like the coin shown here. I thought it would be a great way tp present your coins in the Registry. Whatcha think?

Not a Merc folk, but I'll chime in anyway. I don't like it because it makes the label and slab the focus of the picture, where in reality it should be a very minor part of the picture.

But Registry Collectors are Slab Collectors so the slab should be featured. Okay you are correct. How about something like this but missing a couple of the dimes that are present on this picture.

Don't have many of these but I tried this way. It makes the tag smaller if you want the tag visable.


I'm also open to comments still learning this coin picture thing. Coin is not as gold as the sun shine made it seem.

Or is this better the listing has the other info. Also took out some of the false gold color.

Purely subjective, Ken, but I personally prefer this type of look:




This REALLY emphasizes the coin and not the slab, yet does prominently display the slab for recognition of color, age, etc.

I like the way you did the 1913. Back to the drawing boards or Photoshop at least.

The format of the 1913 Buffalo is what I've settled in on for now.

I usually make the tag 1/2 the width of the coin. It could be positioned
lower if you didn't care to show the series, coin, and serial numbers.

All good examples shown. What I was trying to achieve was a picture that had the coin, and the coin in the slab. Solids one shot was what the thought was but it also has the slab over shadowing the coin. More work is needed on my part to come up with a happy medium.

Maybe some other people can give this a fling also. Many minds is better than one tired one....

I like it, but it would be nice if the coins were a little larger in the pics. I ran into the same problem. I had to keep the pic under 100K (really, smaller... I cant get them to go in if the image is 94K or more.) I wanted the focus to be on the coin, but I still wanted the label info in the pic. Here was my solution:



The biggest drawback to this one is the cutting and splicing. It can be quite cumbersom if you have more than two or three pics to make.

I like this format. Don't need to clutter it all up with the inserts.

I prefer no slabs in the photos. The numbers are part of the game, but everyone can see the numbers in the list of coins.

I like the Buffalo example above too! Really nice and sweet!

Mike (MercurDimeGuy) also has it made pretty good - nice pictures and no need to showcase the slab itself. IMHO the insert is an important piece to the photo.
