DAV and TOPPSGUN battle it out on the 65 front

Both Jim and Mike have been attempting to move up on each other by adding 9's. Today they are again tied for 4th place. Both have completed sets and when this battle broke out late last yr were at 8.05 and 8.03. Today each share an 8.14 mark. The Registry dontcha just love it?

ps I bet both are wreaking havoc in 63 and 67 too.

hehe
Good for you.

  • 2 very impressive sets - and judging by the number of new sets on the registry of 8 or better, it looks like there will be plenty more competition when they're done.

It is a numbers game, and IMO opinion the GPA and rating are weak stats. Take this extreme example - the 20 easiest 9's in the set can be had for roughly $40 each and a Charley Smith 7 - 21 cards weighted GPA 8.90 3.33% complete VS. those same 20 in 7's and Charlie Smith 8 - 21 weighted GPA 7.04 3.33% complete. Guess which scenario costs more?

I like the registry alot. I will say that I will never get into competition for ranking. The secret is to have tunnel vision, buy your cards, add your cards, you end up where you end up image

I am glad I am not doing a 65 set at the moment - and happier still that they are not doing a 66 set right now.

Be happier your not doing a 55 set. Win, have you taken a look at some of the newcomers on ebay for the 55 topps 7 and above?

    I concur.
  • Funny how these advanced collectors fight this out. If you do pop report studies there is no slowdown in the rate at which psa is grading 60's NM-MT and Mint cards. We might be at the tip of the iceberg population wise. I can see this material especially commons really declining in value.
    I love candy cards
