The Elder coin in my collection
![Sylvestius](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/defaulticon/pdefault.gif)
Up until yesterday the oldest coin in my collection was a English penny minted between 924-939 but not any more!
My latest purchase is *drum roll*;

Edward the Elder (899-924)
(I would stop to celebrate but i've seen an Eadred coin!) If i can ditch a few other coins i could have coin three for my set, which would mean i'm 1/3rd of the way through the set!

<< <i>BONVS HOHOHO >>
Seriously, though, that's an ubercool oldie. Too bad the flan is incomplete, but I suspect that's not uncommon on those.
<< <i>I like the reverse inscription. It appears to have something to do with an extra Christmas gift from from Santa Claus.

Ah that's edge issue is actually interesting.
Someone has at one time tested it to see if was silver using the old tooth/nibbling method. I suspect it might have been a viking.
King Eadred!
I'm liking these two line types...
(Hopefully that'll be another one off of my signature line) Æthelred II is amusingly still on my signature, i'm leaving that one for a while, i'll wait until i'm struggling with the others, then i'll buy the easy one.
