How can DISCOUNTCARDZ be a Powerseller with a 97.4% feedback?

I know they have over 20,000 transactions, but I thought you needed a feedback of at least 98% to be an Ebay Powerseller.

  • I thought you had to average something like $1500 in sales every month. It seems like I've seen plenty of "power sellers" with less than stellar feedback.

  • I think they raised it to 3k per month. I just was notified of the change because last month i dipped below that level.
By the way i only have a total of 188 feedbacks in the past 2 years. Go figure !!!!

    Discountcardz feedback is amazing.

93,080 total positive feedback from 19,223 different users
    508 negatives

Despite the high number of +, this must cost them bids. Since they seem to be a big ebay dealer, you would think that they would want to protect their feedback.

I just bought a $100 card from them. I will pay by Paypal and see what happens.

  • ndleo - Actually, I'd say it is the exact opposite. With a feedback so high and with all the sales they appear to have, they probably don't pay much attention to their feedback at all anymore, and probably rely heavily on return customers.
Looking at their feedback and seeing the extreme difference between the feedback they've rec'd (93, 000+ pos from 19,000+ users) and the feedback they've GIVEN (3,852 TOTAL) kind of says to me they don't care about feedback. Negatives seem to be just a part of the business to them, and that's it.

Interesting, looking at the feedbacks they's given, the last feedbacks they gave were on 5/26.....over 200 of them, and nothing since! Then they hadn't given any feedback for almost a month prior to that. They probably just do a once-a-month feedback dispersal to whatever is still on the records.

As a general rule, I avoid these mega-sellers who seemingly are too busy to be customer oriented.

I bought a few Chrome refractors a couple of years ago and waited for at least four weeks before the cards arrived. It was like pulling teeth getting them to respond to my shipping status requests. I would never even think of bidding on their auctions. They did finally send my cards about a month later. I can't understand why anyone would ever do business with again.

Brian Carnathan has truly awful customer service. I had a go-around with him a couple years ago where after he cashed my money order (he didn't take PayPal at the time), he then listed all the cards again for sale. He never responded to any of my emails, or even to my phone calls (I exchanged contact information, and got the phone number. I called several times, at different times of the day. and got a machine every time.).

He has a persistent problem with losing the orders of about 1 of every 40 customers - sometimes for dozens of cards at a time. He will not even acknowledge you after he has done so.

Even using PayPal I wouldn't bid on his auctions again. I bid to buy cards, not to get my money back a month later.

As for how he can be a Power Seller at less than 98% feedback (and he's been under 98% for years), it's because eBay breaks their own rules if it will make them money.

  • I don't know how that seller was able to continue being an ebay member.
Looking at their feedback closer, their very first feedback was a pos., so things started OK. They then went downhill fast. That pos. was followed by 45 negatives, 10 neutrals, and 4 pos. The negs were by 7 different users. Wouldn't that have immediately have left them with a huge negative feedback rating, and cause for ebay to give them the boot?

this guy is an absolute sack of crap - I won an auction from him when he was mcbusinesssolutionz. I had the audacity to inquire what was taking so long with my cards. I finally received them and left him a much-deserved neutral. He's one of those guys that waits to see what kind of feedback he gets before he leaves his. Of course I got a neutral too, but his comments were, and I quote: "Bidder makes unreasonable demands! Feedback bomber! Cancel users bids!" Shame on me for being unreasonable and wanting to know what was taking so long for my cards to arrive. It's been since May '02, and I'm still mad as he** about that deal. Shame on eBay for letting pieces of refuse like him line their pockets at the expense of the masses.

I have found that a large percentage of the "power sellers" are actually "power scammers" or just plain to big to be good to there customers
