You heard it here first. 2 more dingers tonight. I can't believe that this guy is 2nd in the all star voting...I mean sure Brian
Roberts leads the league in batting, but Soriano is a BEAST and took about 6 games off!
At this current pace, he will be the greatest hitting 2nd basemen ever...you heard it here first!

Seriously, though, I agree that Soriano's a stud and looks like he will be the best of his era but he's got a looooooooooooong way to go to match Rajah's sustained greatness.
<< <i>This of course assumes that he is a second baseman, from what I have seen that assumption leaves a lot to be desired. >>
It also assumes he won't move to DH in the next few years, as his defensive liabilities will continue to rise.
Greatest ever? Let's not make that assumption a couple of years in....Jeff Kent has had a great career, and there have been a couple others that have been quite good.
But, my lingering impression of him was the World Series a few years back, when he was swinging the bat so poorly, that the Yankees had to bench him! He looked terrible the whole series - I don't think the "greatest ever" would perform that way on the game's biggest stage...
Ill trade Joe Morgan cards for Soriano

I read a column the other day which called Albert Pujols an all time great. Not quite yet.
My vote goes to Manny Trillo.

Yes Soriano had a poor 2003 World Series but people soon forget about his other post-season heroics
The 2001 ALCS:
"Soriano delivered the crusher, a two-run shot off Seattle closer Kazuhiro Sasaki with one out in the bottom of the ninth that pushed the Mariners to the brink of elimination. The Yankees will try to close out a Seattle team that broke their AL record with 116 regular-season victories tonight in Game 5."
Soriano sinks Seattle - Rookie's homer in ninth gives Yankees 3-1 lead
Yes, Soriano put a nail in Seattle's coffin as they choked away their AL record breaking season.
And if Mariano had not made a rare error in the 9th inning of Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, Soriano would have been the hero and the Yankees would have won their 27th World Championship. Alfonso Soriano hit the go-ahead HR in Game 7, 8th inning, 2001 World Series off of Curt "The Mouth" Schilling:
