altered card sold to me from "nicecommons"

I bought a 1971 OPC Carew from this individual on ebay and the whole bottom of the card had been doctorerd. Dam, i new that scan looked too good to be true. This guy is also selling 55' commons. After this card being so blatent i wouldn't reccomend buying any vintage from this individual. Card was filled in all along the bottom edge.
Ebay auction was 5200750600 if somebody would throw the linky up for me.

Can you discriminate bidders with less than 40 feedbacks??

    ....

I don't accept bids from anyone with less than a (40) feedback. Any bids on this card by a bidder with less than (40) will not be a legal bid. All violations will be reported to eBay for their review and a possible suspention from eBay.

At the end of this auction if you should get outbid by someone with less than a (40) feedback you will be the winner. I will contact you with an invoice as well as reporting the infraction to ebay. If you have 2 or more Negatives I reserve the right to remove your bids. I have this stiff requirements for a reason. If you have a problem with with my requirements please don't bid on my cards. Thanks for your cooperation.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Hmm.. Sounds to me like "If the auction isn't as high as I would like, I will use a shill account that has less than 40 fb. If I outbid you, I may not be able to retract my bid so I'll just make you the winner for your max bid. I find this to be the easiest way to get the most money for my auctions. If however I outbid you and your bid was not high enough I will use a different shill account that has more than 40fb and make them the winner. Thank you for understanding."

What a tool. Cut the Carew in half and send it back to him.

Ebay continues to baffle me. Who in the hell goes through the trouble of doctoring a $1 card? For God's sake, GET A JOB!!!

Well for one, this is not a $1.00 card. If there was no alteration this card had a legit 7 possibly and 8. If it had no problems i would say a legit $25-$35 dollar type card. But everyone panics with these black borders and now we know why. Here is my reply from the seller.

I would expect that someone with so many feedbacks would have caught this immediately. I spotted it before even taking it out of the plastic . As for leaving me a negative, just curious what it would be for. I am not going to leave any feedback on this auction. Card will go out tomorrow. Unfortunely your feedback doesn't mean much as alot of people have no clue about trimmed, colored, or altered cards.

    -------------- Original message --------------

IF THE CARD HAS BEEN ALTEREED I WAS NOT AWARE OF IT AT THE TIME I POSTED IT OR SENT IT. I don't have to put up altered items at ebay. Look at my feedback.

    Feedback Score: 1213
    Positive Feedback: 99.6%

Members who left a positive: 1220
Members who left a negative: 5

    All positive feedback received: 3326

You will get a complete refund including postage just like the letter you received with the card states. This was an honest mistake made by me. Don't threaten me with negative feedback because you will get the same right back. Your check will go by return mail.

My first e-mail to the seller

This card you sold has been doctored. Black felt tip ink was used all along the bottom of the card. I would like a refund on this card and will be sending back to you. Failure to do so will result in nuetral feedback. Please send refund to this address.

I have now seen it all. This moron takes the cake. I have seen guys with feedback scores of less then 40 with hundreds of auctions under their belt. Did this idiot ever stop to think about that? Also what about those that buy with one acct and sell with another? The shilling statement above seems to fit!
    Good for you.

Do unaltered 1971 OPC Carews that would grade PSA 8 really sell for $1.36? I suspect that most raw collectors who looked at that auction thought something was funny and moved on, thus the miniscule sale price. Even you thought it "looked too good to be true." Hey, you were right. Congrats on getting your refund, but he'll just put it right out on eBay again in a few weeks.
