Bought a 1953 SA Shilling

Was able to pick it up for $10 including shipping. So what do you think of it?

I had a snipe set for that shilling.... would've paid more than $10 had the seller let the auction run it's course.

I thought I was wrong. It is not like it really matters to me if it is a proof or a business strike though. I was just after it for the reverse design.

I like your new coin. Here's a 1953 SA Shilling business strike, but no toning - from a sealed mint set.

Nice coin and it's at a steal price. Krause undervalues these a lot.

The early '50's issues do get easier to find than the earlier ones but they aren't common
until the late '50's.

Krause lowered the prices on most of the South African coins years ago. Prices didn't
really ease until much later and they have partially recovered.
