Laughable ebay auction

First off, look how much he is asking for this BGS 9 Pro set Emmitt. In his extensive description he goes on and on about this card implying it is super rare. He even states that the BGS 9 card is better then PSA 10 versions. I just thought it was funny.

Oh, so there are 229 graded 9 by BGS, not such a low pop card then. Some of the crap people write. Keep the hate mail coming, that is funny.

  • OOOOOOooooooooooooooo. That is so super rare. I think they stopped printing the 1990 Pro set in either 93 or 94.....

I checked on there was a buyer of one of those Smiths, paid $149 for it. E-mailed them and stated that they got ripped off. Research what you are buying before you bid.

"But a BGS 9 Emmitt proset rookie card you gotta get it from me."

uh, why did I want one?

    and love this gem:

    " I have 135 of the 229 bgs 9 of this card."

    Why?
  • He was able to sell one of these for $150, that's all it takes, one sucker...

That is at least the 2nd one he has sold, I e-mailed a different winner on how they got ripped off for buying one.

Your first tip-off that it isn't "super-rare" is the fact that he has three of them in the picture...

Not a bad "scam" really. If he had any ability to communicate and get his ideas across he could do very well with them. He builds hype around condition sensitivity and Beckett's high standards. He knocks the more expensive Emmitt RCs saying they are not true RCs because they came out at the end of the year. He's obviously not going to get anybody that knows a lot about cards to buy, but there's a lot of die hard Cowboys/Emmitt/Gators/NFL fans that would love to have Emmitt's "best" RC before he retires and if he can fool someone into thinking this is it he's going to do ok.

he's been trying to pawn these cards forever....and his selling point has always been that their super rare because he owns nearly all the graded examples. He tried to sell 3 lots of 50 of them a couple weeks ago. obviously nobody was interested. What i find funny is if his contention is that he's cornered the market b/c he owns them all...he's defeating his purpose by dumping them all on the market.

Cornering the market on a 1990 Pro Set card is an oxymoron, lol. How do you "corner" something like that?

What he forgot to mention in his description is that if you simply extrapolate the pop numbers for the card (to include millions of ungraded cards), you're probably left with tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of mint condition cards.

He's just doing what those clowns on TV used to do: buy crap cheaply then overhyping it by screaming and spitting at each other and hoping some schmoe that knows nothing about cards comes along. He's wasting his time by trying to sell in bulk, but I think he could get $100 a piece for them if he has one constantly listed and maybe throws them in other categories that aren't the norm (Collectibles, Antiques, etc..). His sales pitch really isn't that bad for what he's trying to do. Just like we all used to laugh at Don West and the other jackholes, but I bet they made a killing off Tiger Woods RCs, 91 Score wax, and PSA graded oddball Jordan cards.
