British 1871 1d Struck through error?

I found an 1871 1d... it seems to have an unusual issue. The reverse has a portion above the seated Britannia that is just missing. It looks to me as if something got on the die and was struck through leaving an imprint. This looks too large to be a planchet issue. The coin itself is not a bad example... worthy of a VF grade by British standards. Keep in mind the obverse is okay and the rim is fine... from the obverse, you would not even know this issue existed. It seems that errors are not that interesting across the pond, but this really has me asking the question... would this be more collectible as an error? Any thoughts?

I wish I could give you a better answer, but I think you answered your question.

Errors other than lettering/date errors for the most part appear not to hold much interest in the UK.
