Insurabce question

I mailed a card this wed. It had $50 insurance and DC. I went to USPS web site to see if it was delivered, and it said they attempted delivery. I always thought they didn't need asignature if the item was insured for less then $100? Any know the reason for this?

  • I think you only need a signature for signature confirmation. I'm not sure about the insurance.

You do not need a signature for insurance........but you do need a signature for DC.

  • DC , is scanned and placed in your Mailbox. Signature requires an autograph. ( but 25% of the time the PO will leave it in my box)

PSA has a PO Box ? How can a delivery be attempted? Unless you mailed it to their street address for Fedex? The insurance is for anything over 50, anthing with a stamp does not need a sig. I assume since you have a tracking number than you insured it enough for a sig.

All the cards I have recieved with DC, I have never once had to sign for them and trust me there have been quite a few. Maybe it depends on the mailman doing the route.

  • I insured it for $50 and I put dc on it. The mailman always puts these in my box. When it was over $100 I had to sign for it. Its a little surprising to me.

Incorrect. There are two types of confirmation: Delivery Confirmation (bright green tag) and Signature Confirmation (bright pink), which is more expensive. Only the latter requires a signature.

Either way, relax. The card hasn't been lost and the person receiving it will simply need to go to the PO and retreive it.
