I've apparently been suspended from Beckett AGAIN. Not sure what I did this time. I could post just fine last night. I go to bed, wake up, and now I've been suspended. I don't know what's going on over there these days.
There is NO logic to buying from a dealer that charges $100 for the card, when they bought it on ebay last week for $60.
I made this point a while back talking about sellers like Kepplerenterprises and others who buy cards on Ebay and than TRIPLE the price, and was told by the majority of the board "good for them", "they are taking the risk" and "bid higher next time". Years ago people would buy things at a show or market and put them on Ebay. Now people buy stuff on Ebay and sell them at a market or show at ridiculous prices.
The smart card buyer knows where almost every card came from out there, be it Ebay, Lelands, Mastos, Mile High etc.
A lot of sellers are counting on collectors who dont know any better......

Geeze, sorry to hear Jason....I guess they like to hit the suspend button at will anymore :
As far as the BMP, I have only dealt with D&A. I found their prices to be fair and the CS very good. I have checked other places and laughed out loud at the prices they wanted...like this...LOL Get a clue BMP dealers. I would much rather be a fleabayer than a complete idiot.
Got the link, posted the above spelling nightmares in the wee hours of the morning. forgive my wonderful repeated errors on wholesale. atleast I didn't spell it ho-sale.
I got the link. simply denial idiots thinking the market can be controlled for all those that have heard of beckett.com and don't know what ebay is.
jayscards.com was the main pisser and all he has is modern overpriced stuff. check his stuff out and ask him if he sells on ebay.

Thanks, Rima. Apparently, this suspension is for a full month. Oh well. I e-mailed the webmaster to see how I could have been suspended overnight while asleep. Unless I suffer from "sleep-posting," I'm relatively certain I did nothing wrong between 11:00PM and 7:00AM this morning.

I have to disagree with your post. Many collector's still do not use ebay, and only buy through dealers that they have a relationship with. There are also many people who regularly buy on ebay, but don't have time or the money to bid everything that they see or do not see on ebay at any given time. A goode example of this is one someone buys sometihng off ebay and two weeks later re-lists it and makes a profit on it... Ebay is very time oriented and you can either get burned or helped by that.

The only collectors who dont use Ebay are the guys who send thier buyers out to get what they need or have them bidding on the phone for them at Lelands. If you have that kind of money, the dealer is entitled to his markup for the work involved. Cards and people like this comprise less than 1% of the card buyers out there....
No offense, but that is a very very close minded statement! I would guess that about half of the collector's in the world do not use ebay! This is from my own experiences talking to collector's at shows and in the shops that i have been to. I would say that about 10-20 % of serious collector's don't use the intenet as well... Many still buy via mail order or through the network of dealers. Just because the resource is there, it does not mean people are using it... Its just like people buying from book stores in person instead of amazon or somewhere else where hte books are cheaper. It is more convenient very often to go to a store and actually look at the book and read it though, as opposed to searching through listings online and not seeing the physical book itslef. I may see a lot of books online that i may like to read, but seeing them in person helps me to make a better decision about which book is for me.

I understand there are many collectors who use their own network of dealers but my belief is that MOST everyday and middle-class collectors are buying off ebay. It's just getting the best bang for you buck. Go to a card show...you hear both collectors and dealers discussing buying and selling on ebay. Even on this board we all discuss our ebay purchases. Unless you don't have/use the internet, why wouldnt you be on ebay? No where are you going to find a larger selection of memorabilia! I also believe there is a population of collector/dealers who would chop off their fingers rather than admit to using ebay....but alas they do in the dark little corners of their home where no one can see!
Before I bit the bullet and started buying/selling on eBay, I believed it to be a place full of weirdos and scammers, and obsessive-compulsive mouse-clickers hunched over their computers 16 hours a day. I can see why this perception would cause some folks to steer away, and to stick with their overpriced but familiar card shops and mail-order sources.
Now that I am one of the obsessive-compulsive mouse-clickers (but I'm down to a couple hours a day, honest, doc) I know for a fact that eBay is absolutely full of weirdos and scammers. But it's also full of normal, honest people just trying to buy and sell their stuff in a vastly larger markeplace than is otherwise available. If you do your homework and learn the most obvious warning signs, you can get to a point where only 1 in 250 deals is bad news for you.
Of course, if you get to the point where you can say things like "1 in 250 deals" about your own personal transactions, and you're not running an eBay business, you're definitely one of the weirdos.
As a courtesy, I "try" not to mention ebay when I am at a dealers table, or in a retail shop. Some poeple don't know and I don't want to take business away from anybody. However, when I see ex cards with high (nm-mt) beckett prices, I think they are taking business away from themselves.
