Certainly looks like a 6 day war medal. It does NOT seem to be listed in the Israel Gov't Coins & Medals catalogue so it's probably a private issue of some sort.
The motifs of the western wall and symbol of the Israeli Defense Forces (sword) look like they were lifted from the 1967 commemorative 5 L. coin (altho not executed as nicely). Also, the war ran from Jun 5-11. I don't remember the precise events, but wonder if June 7 is when the IDF took possession of the western wall. The inscription on the reverse (the war for peace) certainly seems ironic in light of subsequent events so I'd guess this piece was struck within a year or two after the war.
edited to add: Not that it matters to the attribution, but you mention that this is gold but the high points show what looks like a silver color beneath a gold wash/plate (near tail of dove, along and to the left of the hilt of the sword and especially on the brick on the bottom of the wall, 2nd from the left). I don't see a privy/content mark so wonder what info you have that its gold.
Always interested in St Louis MO & IL metro area and Evansville IN national bank notes and Vatican/papal states coins and medals!
