1803 Negotiations with England

I can't help myself. This is the 4th of these medals I've collected. I'm actually looking for a scarce variant of the legend and the medal is so small it's hard to get a straight answer from sellers on which version they've got.
Both the British and the French governments had no intention of carrying out the provisions of the Treaty of Amiens. When it became clear that this was true both sides began preparing their people for the inevitiable resumption of the wars. That we of the English speakng world only know the British side of this story, the "Napoleon was Evil incarnate, a madman, etc." is probably to be expected. This tiny French medal says "Arm for Peace" on the obverse while the reverse features an olive branch and the fulmen of Jupiter (Peace and War).

How do your store your medals? I've been looking for something that would be nice for my high relief napoleon.
It's a really nice looking piece. (No surprise there, considering the owner.)
Hey did you get my PM?

I'm storing my medals in non-PVC 2 1/2" flips (primarily Saflips). In between each medal I put a small amount of inert padding bought at the archival site www.gaylord.com. I crack everything in slabs out before photographing and storing. But that's a small portion of my total collection; probably no more than 50-60 pieces have been liberated over the years.

<< <i>Mainly because they're so easy to get where I work. >>
Now there's an "office supply" item I could go for.....
