    Technically a Specimen Set, but most people refer to them as Proof Sets.

    Prices range from $180 to $500.

    Technically scarce, but in actual fact there are a lot of them about. My advice (even though no one asked for it image) is not to jump on the first one you see unless it's top notch.

    One of my favorite past numismatic holdings was one of those sets, but a REALLY nice one, with all sorts of purples and violets and nice mirrors on the coins. I got two genuine 1877 Indian cents in trade for it, from a Liteside dealer, if that gives you any idea of how stunning it was.

    Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
