steiner and scoreboard

I'm looking into buying an greg maddux auto piece on ebay. I'm not a big auto collector, so if it's not PSA/DNA...i'm lost. One of the items come from steiner...the other comes from scoreboard. Anyone dealt with auto pieces from these two companies? How reputable are they? Should i trust both? thanks in advance.

they're both very reputable, but there's nothing matching the COA w/ the item from scoreboard. So basically scoreboard is worthless if you're not familiar w/ the seller. On the other hand, steiner/uda is the best in the business b/c they only authenticate items signed in their presence. as a result you're going to pay a significant premium.

  • Pay the premium and buy the Steiner piece. You'll sleep better knowing it's real.

As an autograph collector - go with Duner and Fabfrank - right on the money IMO.

Steiner is great, very reputable. There are only a handful of autographed items I'd ever buy off ebay. Steiner, UDA, Mounted Memories, PSA/DNA, GAI. The ones with the players "foundation" or whatever, are usually legit too.. ie Walter Payton foundation, Ripken, Favre, Bonds25 etc...

Most of the scoreboard stuff is real, however, like another poster stated, the COA has no correlation to the piece (There was a recent auction with a scoreboard coa that said a Babe Ruth 8x10 was signed in their presence)

Also, stay away from those "Scorboard Embossed" signed cards. The sellers usually claim they were "part of a buyback program" Trust me...they weren't.

Spend the extra few bucks and get something you'll know is real and is probably of better quality anyway.
