500 HR Poster PSA/DNA...Where do I place the label and how do I sell it???

I'm submitting a 500 HR Poster signed by all eleven players to PSA/DNA. Should I place the alpha-numeric label on the front of the poster or obtain the Letter of Authenticity (LOA). Although it's a beautiful item to add to my wall/collection I plan on framing the poster and selling it due to financial circumstances. Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Another question, since I plan on selling this item, is it best to sell thru one of the high-end auctions houses or sell it via EBAY?

Thanks in advance......Eddie

I would put the sticker on the front. with a large piece like that it won't take away from the appearance. If it were me I'd use ebay and set a reserve on it. if you are shipping it framed be careful of the glass you use in the frame.

Is the the poster with them all painted and standing side by side in Yankee Stadium? Can you share a scan?

In all honesty, this is probably the one piece that I most want to add to my collection. I remember reading in SCD as a kid about the poster and auto show and I've wanted one ever since then. I don't know what the market value is on the piece, but someday I'll have one.
  • i see pieces like that at big auction houses like mastro, leland, sotheby and the like. I would look into those first and see what the costs are and the likely prices you would fetch. If doing a big auction house is too 1.) expensive and 2.) takes too much of your time, then try ebay.

I remember when that poster came out and the Atlantic City show. Hindsight is always 20/20, but I was floored to see the price they were charging, and even more by the number of people in line. Add that one to the long list of boats I missed...

Was that in 1989? I remember a deal they had way back which was like 20 bucks an auto or something which by today's standards is like free! I remember a show where a Mantle auto was 7 bucks and my friend Andy from school thought that was highway robbery!! He was a coinhead - I was cardboard of course.

I dont know if it was 88 or 89 Mike. It could have been at the National in 88. I was trying to find the ad in a pile of old SCD's, and was amazed at the amount of shows they had back then. Most of the big signers were booked every week and could be had for as low as 4.00!!. One show in Cincy had Joe D, Ted Williams and Mantle for 10 bucks each, and Willie Mays for 8.50.
You could wait until Mays went to Houston and get him for 6.00 if the 8.50 was too much. I'll see if I can find the ad for the 500 HR club because I believe that was the first time the autograph industry used the word "super ticket" to have everyone sign one item

Just so we're all on the same page, this is the item I'm referring to:

I grabbed that from a grey flannel auction here.

There's another version of the same poster that has the autographs on the players' legs. I much perfer the version with the autos on the border. I'm pretty sure there's a lithograph version that's more expensive, as well.

Does anyone know what these usually sell for?
