Almost completed set??

What is the closest that you came to completing a set you were working on, but had to give it up for whatever reason, financially, started a new set that might be easier to complete. I have noticed some people posting there partially completed sets for sale and made me wonder how close they were and the reason why. Some sets just may be almost impossible to complete if the stuff never comes up for sale.

a lot of partial or near sets are missing the money cards from that set. I think a lot of folks sell the stars or money cards individually and then sell the rest of the set. Partial sets can be had cheap and if you already have the stars then it makes sense.

I started on a 1960 Topps football set, and was about 20 cards short, then I gave up. It was just sitting there and it was missing the money cards. There are usually some other sets that I have sitting around that I am missing 5-10 cards on. Then I finally go onto beckett.com or in person to a store and buy the missing cards. It's more a matter of laziness for myself. I don't like to have near sets sitting around forever though.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
