Father in law's find

Several years ago my father-in-law decided to see if he could find his old card collection. He went to the house where he grew up and found his Velveeta cheese box just as he left it. Mostly 54-56 Topps and a few Bowman thrown in. I finally convinced him to get some of the more valuable cards graded/protected. Here are the results:

Submission 574802
Zip 38506

I thought there would be a couple more 7s (the Koufax rookies are nice), but I'm very happy with the 56 Mantle 8. Not for sale, just thought I'd share.

Great story. Congrats on finding some great cards and on some good grades. The cheese stands alone.....

The only thing I get from my father in law are dirty looks. That is awesome, would love to see the Mantle..

Wow. Those are some great cards! Especially that 56 Mantle in an 8. That's got to be a beauty! I'd love to see a scan of it as well! Those are terrific cards even ungraded, congrats on a great find.

Nice cards! I'm just happy my father-in-law gave me a girl who not only tolerates but encourages my card collecting.
  • How did he get back into the house? Was someone else living there? Interesting stuff.
  • Cool story and some really nice cards!

    Cubfan,
His father was still living in the house. Before sending in the big ones, he let me pick a few commons to send in. A couple of 8s from the 56s and a few 7s from 54-55. There are about 400 more cards, but I don't think any of them will be as high as a 7. I'll post pics when they return.
