welp Beckett noticed me.

Like what happend with austinchau and Beckett Basketball... The editor of Beckett Hockey e-mailed me asking if I would be interested in writing a first-person piece about the cut signature "cards" I've been making. If all goes smoothly it will be in the next issue of Beckett Hockey. image

I am legal representative from the estate of one deceased Terry Sawchuk. Did you get written permission to use his likeness on an unliscenced card from his estate? If not then please refrain from using his likenes on these boards anymore.

    JUST KIDDING!!!image

That is cool though, I thought those were actual inserts at first, love em.

just a thought, if you make any more cards, you should put "1/1" on them. Although we all know that you made them, and they are in fact 1/1, it would probably increase their marketability should you ever choose to sell them.

Hopefully I don't get into trouble for using the HHOF logo and team logo's. I doubt I will since they're just things I made for myself and not for profit, but you never know how crappy the other guy(s) can be.

sad part is PSA had the card and didnt do anything.
  • this is going to put to shame all those that are blowing crazy money on these cut autos when you can have knuckles make ya one for less image

Still genuine, still a 1:1, still PSA/DNA certified. I think we're onto something here...

Hah! I actually will venture into baseball, basketball, and boxing once I'm done with hockey or am stuck being unable to find auto's in hockey. Searching for auto's of all the sports at the same time would be too time consuming.

<< <i>I don't suppose they will be posting any pictures of the one in PSA holders. >>

They sure will be. They even want me to go into why I chose 'the PSA/DNA system' to enhance them.

<< <i>this is going to put to shame all those that are blowing crazy money on these cut autos >>

I think so too.. Especially when the card companies don't take the time and effort to make them nice.. They're not picky in regards to what autographs they use.. They'll use crappy messy one's or one's that are too large for the design and some of the autograph ends up being cut off.. They don't bother making a proper back with stats etc.. They just stick 'Congratulations' on the back. Which I'll also go into in the feature..

I mean look at these.. yuck.

  • Those cards are really nice. Are those logo's embossed? How did you do that?
  • KnucklesKnuckles Posts: 2,512 ✭✭✭
Thanks, they're not actually raised up 'embossed' it's just the effect I gave them in Adobe Photoshop (an expensive art program)

I might actually have to pick up a Beckett Hockey Magazine or whatever it's called for the first time in about two years. Do you post there too, Knuckles, or do Beckett staffers (apparently) frequent these boards? Anyway, congrats, dude. Your cards are awesome! I might have to commission some one of these days.

  • Man, that Foxx is downright nasty. I thought it was an Eddie Collins Cut Sig when I first looked at it. If I hadn't seen Jimmy Foxx's picture I wouldn't have known that it was supposed to be his card. Shame on Donruss/Playoff. image

yawie99: I went there and stuck a post up asking for non-auction websites to buy vintage hockey autographs from. I edited my signature on there so it was the same as on here (my cut sig cards) editor noticed the cards and all the commotion about them.

    Scott: Yup.. Damn shame.

Congratulations! Very nice to have your work recognized....since I don't subscribe....could you please scan the article and link it here when it appears.

  • Great !!! It's nice that a fellow hockey collector gets the acknowledgement he deserves. Fine work...keep it up. I hope that Gretzky comes back legit. It looks similar to when he was in NY but there's a slight of hand difference. You do realize that even though you have started a new trend (fad), it is about to grow tenfold when that article hits Beckett. Watch the auction prices go higher due to the amateurs and watch for an even larger flood of fake index sigs on Ebay.

I hope I find some of the hard to get higher priced auto's before that happens wick.. I wonder if it will spawn other collectors/graphic designers to make a business out of it.. Offer the service to those who have signed index cards, cheques etc..

  • Great job Knuckles!!! About time Al and Clint get to talk to someone other than those zoo members (gotta love the craziness though).

I have an small hand embosser so if things get rolling I could do some gold-foil stamping for you. Hey, works for the Toronto show, right?

I can see you touring the U.S. and Canada, getting interviewed by the local news bimbos, signing 'graphs, sticking your finger in Minty's eye....... Sorry, I digress.....

    Knuckles,

Congrats, but I say only take their offer if they agree to reduce the prices of every modern card in their price guides to half of what they are to truly reflect market value. Oh, and can you make me some cut sig cards too?

    Lee
  • KnucklesKnuckles Posts: 2,512 ✭✭✭
    Hah! Thanks Bob.

Lee, if you seriously would like some cards done private message me or e-mail me Oh and I don't think Beckett would take too kindly to your suggestion. image
