When I clicked the item number I came to a very real looking sign in page, where I then gave my user name AND password. I was then taken to the item page which is for a shower curtain i had never bid on.

This morning (7 hours later) I realized my mistake and changed my password.

Shower curtain that i did not win.

Check out the view meter for this auction. (over 13000). This tells me that I was not the only BOZO who fell for this spoof. Remember you had to give your PASSWORD before you viewed the auction.

this may not be in effective yet but soon any messages from ebay will go to your 'ebay messages' available once you sign in to ebay. actual messages from ebay will not go to your personal email. anything coming to your personal email claiming to be from ebay is spoof.

DON'T FORGET to update all other sites that you used that password for. If they crack your PayPal they have access to your funds and potentially could get into your online banking. You are probably OK due to the fact that the first thing they when they hijack your account is change your password.

Sorry you fell for a scam--but as ALWAYS, no need to look any further than the salutation to see if it is a scam. If it doesn't address you by name (and instead addresses you by a user ID, email address, or generic "member") then it is a scam.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
