I like this design with the Thai version of Britannia. Some Buddhist goddess? Not Shiva though, she has 4 hands.

Sorry ajaan not for sale. Just something from my collectionimage
  • Dear MSD61:

Yes, that's a beaut, and very hard to find that nice. Living in Thailand, I've of course become interested in old Thai coins and have begun setting aside one here and one there. But I figure I'm going to have to learn to read Thai to really become adept at collecting the coins, so that's on my agenda before I get serious about Thai numismatics.

enjoy the coin, it's a beaut.

You live in Thailand? Where abouts? I lived and worked in Chianmai for 5 years and my son is there now.

I've got a line on one in lustrous BU for 85 bucks (a 1 att, not half).. been tempting.. do you think that's a good deal?

BTW, on a closer look, I think yours is a 1 att (if it's the size of a quarter), dated RS118/AD1899: Y-22.
  • Hello Ajaan:

I live and work in Bangkok, near the intersection of Asoke and Sukhumvit. Very easy to reach by the Skytrain or the Subway.

Are you fluent in Thai? Can you read it too? How about your son?

    Best wishes,

  • Hello Spoon:

If you don't want it, buy it any way and flip it over to me for $100. Not a joke, but a serious offer.

I am not fluent in Thai. My son is. He was born there and went to school until the age of 10.

There was no Skytrain when I lived in Thailand (1984-1989).

I spent about 2 years in Thailand. I am not fluent in Thai but know enough to get around.

Spoon you are right I also have a 1/2 ATT from 1887 and I posted the right pic but the wrong description. 118=1899image
  • Hello MSD61.

    See bahd dee, let khun?

Your Thai is a lot better than mine. Beyond the opening sentence I didn't recognize the rest. My office manager promised to give me lessons when I return, so I hope to start picking it up when I return home to Bangkok. That will be in a few days.

    Warm regards,
