How many coins...

... do you buy in a year on average for your collection?

Currently i only buy about a dozen coins a year. Actually 12 is in a good year i'm usually between 8-10 coins per annum.

Next year will see this drop to about 4 or 5 coins per year as my coin funds tighten up.

I've been averaging about half a dozen coins per coin show ... 12 to 15 coin shows a year. Of course this will start to level off and drop as I start to hit the higher priced coins I will be needing to finish off some sets.

I used to get between 6 and 12 coins per month, but as I've become more selective in trying to find higher quality coins, I'm sure that number has dropped dramatically. I'm also starting to scale back my collections to only two or three active sets, rather than just grabbing anything that catches my eye. The quantity is going to be much more limited from here on.

Average probably 50 a month sometimes a lot more. Depends on what's available.

I average about 250 a year, from fillers to gems. As I fill in the holes the numbers have been dropping and I've been upgrading. One of thee days I should really start selling my dupes...

So far this year I've bought about a dozen darkside coins. Have plans to hopefully double that before the year is out.
  • Lots.
Some months I sell more of my dupes than the number of new acquisitions. Other months I may pick up a lot of a couple hundred. Obviously I'm not stressing quality over quantity but am ever slowly trying to upgrade what I do have and acquire what I don't have including a lot of different dates of the same types. Over the last 35 years I've averaged about 475 net gain a year but that has accelerated in the last decade with greater access via online sources and more income than in earlier days. Hopefully quality will eventually emerge as the tasty icing on a big cake.

I would guess that I but something like 5,000-10,000 coins per year, but only about 10-30 of those make it into my personal collection in a good year.

I bought 75-80 at the last show I was at, and I usually buy 3-4 a week beyond that. Like Vern, I need to pull out the collection and split out the dupes for sale.... sigh

I don't really keep a solid count, but at most local shows usually a dozen or so, my days of filling a 2x2 box or more at a show are over. My bestest more expensive coins have
been coming from auctions lately which averages 4-6 coins per auction, excpet when I by lots, I think all but two of my 5 wins at HWCA were singles the others were small lots
of half a dozen coins or so
