1959 Aaron...

image

This I cracked out of a PRO case that I purchased 2 years ago. I didn't know of PRO's rep back then and I actually submitted cards to them 4-5 years ago because they were cheaper than PSA image.

So someone out there has an untrimmed Dr J rookie I submitted that PRO slabbed 9.5. And they likely think its gone to the barber.

That card was sweet and this Aaron looked good until I cracked it out and it didn't measure up to my other 59 Aaron. arrggghh. Needless to say I will never buy a PRO card again and I will get creative and put this card framed within a signed Jersey someday. I know its for the good of the hobby, but I wish they all were as honest as most of us are. I would NEVER pass this on to someone else, just chalking it up in the "L" column.

burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me.

you are a better person for not dumping that card my friend. it is still a beautiful card, despite the trimming.]

you could always sell it on e-bay and be forthright about the status. i sold a raw 1969 nolan ryan that i purchased when i originally bought an complete 1969 set. nolan's baseball had been colored in blue w/ ink image i was forthright in my selling of the card and didn't try to hustle and wound up selling the card for around $65.

    only an alternative suggestion

good to hear. I would rather do what you're doing rather than selling it back on ebay...regardless if you state that the card has evidence of trimming. A shady character will likely buy the card and either 1.) send it to PRO to get a 9 on it or 2.) sell it on ebay without stating that it's trimmed. Get a signed jersey, hat, ball or whatever...and frame the card next to it. in my opinion, that would look and feel a lot better than seeing it back on the market in a PRO or GEM holder.
  • I would be intrested in the Aaron I have a non graded Aaron collection. Although I couldn't make a serious offer at the moment.

Sorry to hear about it being trimmed.

Sorry to hear that zef, it sucks. I don't understand these momo's who cut vintage cards like that. PRO would have probably graded it the same before trimming it anyway. image
